Aerobic Systems

Aerobic systems used aeration to promote the growth of activated sludge for the effective removal of organic contaminants and nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus.

Anaerobic Systems

Anaerobic Systems are suitable for treatment of high-strength waste and wastewater. Their main function is to remove organic matter and convert it to energy-rich biogas

SBR

The Sequencing batch reactor (SBR) is an activated sludge type treatment system that can carry out various wastewater treatment operations in one vessel. This is in contrast to conventional activated sludge systems where wastewater flows from one vessel to another, with each vessel performing a specific treatment operation. The SBR removes organic material and suspended solids and can also be used to biologically remove nutrients: nitrogen and phosphorus. SBRs can be configured as tank or in-ground

CGR

The CGR (CH4 Generating Reactor) treats waste streams of moderate to very high organic strength. The CGR is an in-ground system used predominantly for bioenergy production (in the form of biogas).

MBR

The Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) is an activated sludge system that uses a physical membrane barrier for liquid-solids separation. The MBR system has better removal of organics, ammonia, and nitrogen than conventional activated sludge systems. The MBR produces a high quality effluent with almost no suspended solids (<2 mg/L). The MBR technology provides an ideal platform for water reuse

BVF

This anaerobic process has a lower volumetric loading than high-rate anaerobic processes. It offers a longer hydraulic retention time and greater biomass inventory, resulting in a significantly more robust treatment process that is well-suited to digest COD, suspended solids (TSS), and degradable fat, oil, and grease (FOG).

  • Easier to operate and maintain than conventional anaerobic systems.
  • Operation and maintenance costs are low.
  • Approximately 90% less waste sludge generated than in aerobic systems.
  • Stable against shock loadings.
  • Waste activated sludge can be digested in the reactor.

Pilot Plants

BPO can carry out pilot and bench tests to determine the suitability of a wastewater to a certain method of treatment. BPO have carried out theses tests for many different  wastewaters using a variety of technologies including anaerobic digestion, membrane systems, activated sludge and DAF.

Contact Reactor

BPO specialise in the contact reactor which is a variation of the  continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR). Performance is boosted with the recycling of thickened sludge back to the reactor. This makes for a higher rate system with greater capacity, output and stability than a standard CSTR.
